Michael James Brady (probably born 1949; also Mike Brady) is a South African businessman. Brady became known through his business activities, marketing allegedly working "magnet motors" through his company Perendev-Group (Perendev Power Developments Pty Ltd.).[1] This was supported by Adolf Schneider, publisher of [[NET-Journal][2] as well as by cheering articles in esoteric journal Raum & Zeit, and on websites dedicated to "incredible things" of one Klaus Kasper, Johnsonville/Wellington in New Zealand. Sterling Allan, founder of Pure Energy Systems Network Inc. (PESN), was also among Brady's supporters; he organized a trip to the USA for Brady to advertise his non-functional Perendev Generators, was webmaster of "perendev.co.za" and domain holder of "perendev.com".
Brady worked for a secret police unit in South Africa for 17 years before he presented himself as an inventor and founded a company in Johannesburg with branches in Russia, Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. A lawyer by the name of Hans Badenhorst is mentioned in connection with the company Perendev Power in Munich. According to information provided on the homepage of Perendev Power, Brady invented a waterjet propulsion system, a positioning system for stolen cars, and a battery charging system, but was duped by a competitor. Eventually he invented a magnet motor which used gravity to produce energy.
In 2004 Brady moved to Munich, to the exclusive residential area of Grünwald. In 2007 he relocated to Switzerland, to the noble town of Wollerau at Lake Zurich[3], where he attracted attention in the neighbourhood of tennis professional Roger Federer due to an excessive lifestyle which included a Maserati and several Range Rovers.
Accusations of fraud and arrest
Norwegian citizen Torbjørn Homelien, of Aqua GEN AS, ordered a "free energy generator" from Perendev which was said to be able to produce an output of 6 kilowatts for an indefinite period of time. He transferred the amount of 6,000 US-Dollars and was advised the generator was going to be delivered two months later. Delivery did not materialize and no explanation was offered. Mr. Homelien managed to contact Mike Brady by phone, only to be put off several times. One excuse mentioned were alleged improvements currently implemented. Eventually, the client attempted to sue Perendev. He also reported to have received threatening phone-calls from Brady.[5]
There are also several persons in Germany who think that they were scammed by Brady/Perendev. A usergroup of Perendev victims can be found at Yahoo, where they share their experiences.[6][7] According to German newspaper "Münchner Abendblatt", a total of 41 persons were cheated out of an overall amount of one million Euro by effecting payments to Perendev Power without receiving „free energy“ generators in return.[8] According to TZ-Munich 61 persons were scammed.[9]
The Munich Perendev Group subsidiary is not available by phone any longer. Brady defected to Wollerau, Switzerland (canton Schwyz) where he was arrested in his home on March 29, 2010 due to a warrant issued by Munich public prosecution (Munich I) for continued fraud, and extradited to Germany. He was convicted to 5 years and 9 months for fraud in 36 cases and attempted fraud in 19 cases in November 2010.[10]
Brady was released from prison in 2014.
Patents
Brady tried to patent his magnet-motor and got a temporary patent number for a "Permanent Magnet Machine". No patent was granted since the patent application had several flaws and the functional principle was considered to be perpetual motion. According to the patent application, repelling forces of magnets should power the motor.[11][12]
Mindful readers of the "patent" noticed a striking resemblance to a patent of an undisclosed South American inventor, which was registered in 1990 and employed "ceramic magnets". The inventor did not follow up the matter later on, since losses due to degaussing were said to have incurred. This inventor also reported phone-calls of an interested party from South Africa.
Despite the patent not having been granted, Brady offered it to investors for 500,000 US-Dollar, so that they could market the alleged applications in USA.
