Sein Interesse für Alternativmedizin erwachte Ende der 70er Jahre, als er für die Firma "The Fashioners of Manas, Inc. Educational Foundation" in Columbus in Ohio arbeitete, deren "president" später wurde. Seit 1982 führt er eine Firma "Maret Consulting Services. Consultation in Biomedical Engineering, Energy Medicine Instrumentation, Environmental Research, Complementary and Alternative Medicine Technologies. 1985 eröffnete er private Behandlungspraxen in San Diego und später Aptos (Private Consultation Practice in Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Dove Center for Integral Medicine, Aptos, CA 95003). Seit 1996 fungiert er als "Present" der Dove Health Alliance Foundation.
