Die Seite wird laut Facebook von sechs Personen aus Russland, drei aus den USA und zwei aus Deutschland geleitet. Redaktionen bestehen in New York und in Berlin. In The Now wird zu einem großen Teil von Ruptly finanziert. Betrieben werden die Unterkanäle "Backthen" und "Waste-Ed".

Interessant ist dabei, dass neben seriösen Presseberichten auch äußerst fragwürdige und Verschwörungstheorien weiterverbreitende Blogs zitiert werden.
