Die emotional tone scale nach Hubbard (auch "Emotionsskala", kurz "tone scale") ist eine subjektive Beschreibung menschlichen Verhaltens des US-amerikanischen Science-Fiction Autors und Erfinders von Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard. Hubbard stellte seine "emotional tone scale" erstmals 1951 in seinem Werk "Science of Survival" vor.
Die "tone scale" wird von Scientologen zu einer eigentümlichen Charakterisierung von Personen eingesetzt, etwa beim so genannten autiting. Allgemein soll der gefundene Zahlwert etwa zur Spiritualität aussagen, bzw wie "lebhaft" oder "tot" jemand im Sinne der scientologischen Ideologie sei.
Scientologen glauben auch dass bei bestimmten tone-Werten der jeweilige Mensch empfänglicher für bestimmte Krankheiten sei, oder eine spätere Entwicklung hin zu einem sexuell perversen Verhalten und auch zur Homosexualität abzusehen sei.
Zu Personen, denen er einen tone-Wert unter +2,0 zuordnet, schrieb Hubbard:

Die tone scale ist in 80 Zahlenwerte unterteilt. Der Zahlenumfang geht von -40 (Totalversager mit Interesse für Tod und Zerstörung) bis +40 (Maximalwert für kreative und glückliche Menschen).
