Bei der Argyrie kann es auch zu einer frühen Verfärbung der Fingernägel kommen, meist der Lunulae. In seltenen Fällen sind auch die Haare betroffen. In manchen Fällen werden Betroffene für "zyanotisch" (zu wenig Sauerstoff im Blut) gehalten, was zu Fehldiagnosen führen kann. Auch kann der Zustand mit dem Morbus Addison verwechselt werden.
