Salla wurde durch die Gründung von Exopolitics bekannt. In diesem Zusammenhang behauptet Salla dass Ausserirdische auf der Erde Einfluss auf politische Entscheidungen nehmen würden.
Salla wurde 1958 in Melbourne (Australien) geboren und erhielt 1983 einen bachelor Abschluss an der University of Melbourne. Er promovierte 1993 an der Queensland University. 1996 wurde er Assistant Professor an der American University (Washington, D.C. USA.) Er zog nach Kalapana (Hawaii) und ist als Sachbuchautor tätig. Des weiteren ist er an einem "Exopolitics Institute" tätig.
