Auf der Segelyacht "Windcastle", die nahe der pazifischen Insel Epi Island (Vanuatu) ankerte, starb am 8.&nbsp;August 2009 Sylvia Fink Solis. Sie hatte MMS in der Ansicht eingenommen, es wirke vorbeugend gegen Malaria. Innerhalb von 15&nbsp;Minuten nach Einnahme verschlechterte sich ihr Gesundheitszustand zunehmend und dramatisch. Zuerst wurde ihr übel, sie erbrach sich und hatte starke Bauchschmerzen und Durchfall. Sie fiel dann innerhalb weniger Stunden ins Koma und verstarb neun Stunden nach Mitteleinnahme noch an Bord. Ein herbeigerufener Arzt konnte ihr nicht mehr helfen. Das Mittel hatten ihr benachbarte Segler gegeben (Luc Callebaut und Ehefrau Jackie Lee von der Segelyacht "Sloepmouche"). Die Staatsanwaltschaft von Vanuatu nahm Ermittlungen auf und es wurde eine Autopsie durchgeführt.
