B. J. Palmer ist der Sohn des aus Iowa stammenden Lehrers, Gemischtwarenhändlers und [[Magnetfeldtherapie|"magnetic healer"]] Daniel David Palmer (D.D. Palmer), den Begründer der [[Chiropraktik]]. Sowohl DD Palmer als auch BJ Palmer waren überzeugte [[Impfgegner]]. Zitat B.J. Palmer:

1922 erwarb Palmer den Radiosender WOC und setzte ihn für die Werbung für die Chiropraktik ein.

Palmer starb 1961 in Florida an Darmkrebs. Sein Sohn David Daniel Palmer übernahm nach seinem Tod die Rolle des ''President of Palmer School of Chiropractic''. Für beide Personen ist keinerlei medizinische Ausbildung bekannt, beide sind demnach Medizinlaien.
